The united valve casing achieves very rigid structure, and the pipeline in the HAMANAGA valve system is naturally straight and extremely smooth. Besides, you can see the asperity-free perfect circle on the surface of the valve hall inside the piston.

These factors significantly enhance the response and smooth blow, and efficiently convert the energy to the sound. Therefore, the sound becomes very stable and rich.

Comparison with a traditional valve system

The right picture above is a valve system which most of the trumpet adopts. The pipeline is unnaturally bent, and you can see many asperities inside the valve hall of piston. This structure were born around 1900 as an evolved system of a piston valve system for the Cornet, which were invented by Etienne Francois Perinet in 1839, but has not been modified for more than a hundred years up to the present day.

As circumstances for music vary over time, an instrument should be improved as well.

In fact, many manufacturers have developed a new instrument by adding the weight or enlarging the diameter of the bell, but this new valve should be the world first “evolution” that faces the fundamental problem of the trumpets.
